Program Description:

This application is for use by A&S students only.  Applications for leave of absence for study abroad should be completed by May 10 for a fall semester or academic year program or by December 15 for a spring semester program.

While on leave of absence you will retain your WU email account and will be automatically reinstated prior to registration for your return to WU.  While on a leave of absence you will not be enrolled in the WU student health insurance plan and will not be considered a full-time WU student.  You will be responsible for paying your tuition and fees directly to the non-WU program in which you will participate.  Transcripts for programs taken while on leave of absence will not be processed by A&S for transfer credit towards satisfying WU degree requirements. The credit will be recorded on the program transcript only.  Credit earned abroad while on a Leave of Absence cannot be transfered to WU.

International Students and Leave of Absence:

If you are an international student currently studying in the United States on a visa you will need to contact the Office of International Students and Scholars before taking a leave of absence to find out what requirements you must meet in order to be allowed back into the United States after completing your leave of absence.  It is your responsibility as an international student to investigate any issues there may be to your taking a leave of absence.
