Mission: To work together with our communities to create, implement, and operate equitably accessible, sustainable health, nutrition, and education services.

Description: 
Shoulder to Shoulder implements and manages health care services for over 69,000 Hondurans in the rural department of Intibucá with the goal of helping the people of the frontera live longer, healthier, more productive and fulfilling lives in a strong community. This is accomplished through health and education projects such as clinics, research projects, water and sanitation outreach, health promotion and women's health and dentistry projects. Shoulder to Shoulder also established a private, bilingual school to meet the gap of public education, supporting girls scholarships, and girls empowerment projects.

PRACTICUM DETAILS

Language Requirement: English required, Spanish required in some positions 

Possible Projects: Child Nutrition Promotion; Research and Evaluation; Water Sanitation and Promotion; Secondary School Counseling and Program Development; Community Projects; Educational Development

Preferred Knowledge and Background: Global Health, Girls Education, Community Outreach and Development, Education, Water and Sanitation

Cost: Students are responsible for flights, potential visa fees, and living expenses. Students will also be provided with an in-country cell phone to use for the duration of their practicum and have the option of living either in a volunteer house or with a host family as available. Students are required to purchase purchase WUSTL travel insurance for the duration of their practicum for $40/month.

Travel Immunizations or preventative medication is recommended and may be required for your program participation. Students are responsible for covering all associated costs. Please refer to the CDC for more information.
